(WASHINGTON, DC)–Today, Congressman Gregory W. Meeks voted to override President Bush’s veto of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). House Republicans were able to sustain the President’s veto for the third time in the 110th Congress. The vetoed bill would have extended coverage to an additional 3.8 million children in the United States.

(WASHINGTON, DC)–Today, Congressman Gregory W. Meeks and his colleagues in the House of Representatives passed the HOPE VI Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2007 (H.R. 3524). The bill reauthorizes HOPE VI for the next eight years with an authorization level of up to $800 million a year. In addition, to reauthorizing the program the bill makes several changes to the program.
