The Act provides for the establishment of an American Enterprise Fund for Haiti, which focuses on promoting investment and business opportunities in Haiti’s private sector and encourages a culture of entrepreneurship.

Meeks (D-NY) applauds Citigroup’s recent announcement that it will provide $1 million in charitable contributions to three local microfinance institutions in Haiti. These contributions are intended to help restore the country’s critical microfinance industry, which has suffered severe challenges following the devastating earthquake earlier this year.
