Washington, D.C.—Congressman Gregory W. Meeks (NY-05) made the following statement on taking targeted military action against ISIL:

"I commend the President’s decision to take targeted military action against ISIL. It is important that the air campaign was conducted with a broad coalition of nations including Arab countries that participated or supported the strikes. The strong coordinated effort demonstrates that terrorists are a threat to the entire global community and will be dealt with by a growing coalition of nations."

"I also applaud the President’s decision to separately target the Khorasan Group of terrorists. These and other terrorist groups must know that America will not stand by while they plot against the United States and our allies, and seek to bring destruction and humanitarian catastrophe to the region."
