Washington, D.C.—Congressman Gregory W. Meeks issued the following statement regarding reports of turmoil in Turkey:

“Just this week the Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats Subcommittee held a hearing to examine the combination of societal, economic, and military factors at play in President Erdogan’s Turkey. As ranking member, I am acutely aware that domestic pressures have been building inside Turkey, and I am deeply concerned about events that are currently unfolding.”
