New York, NY—Congressman Gregory W. Meeks released the following statement in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 29th, 2017:
"On this day of remembrance, we pay tribute to the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our beloved nation. These brave men and women gave their lives defending everything we hold dear—the freedoms and inalienable rights that make our country so great. We owe it to these patriots to live every day in their honor.
"In honor of Memorial Day, I thank the courageous men and women of our armed forces—and their families—for their service and I encourage the people of the United States to do the same."
