Rep. Gregory W. Meeks Supports Leadership Change at FDIC
QUEENS, NY–Rep. Gregory W. Meeks (NY-05), Senior Member of the House Financial Services Committee, issued the following statement in response to FDIC Chairman Martin Gruenberg's announcement that he is prepared to step down once his successor is confirmed.
“Chairman Gruenberg’s willingness to step down is welcomed. His departure is a necessary step forward in creating positive change and an inclusive work atmosphere from the top-down.
“I urge President Biden to swiftly nominate a successor with significant supervision experience, who will bring gender and racial diversity to the highest levels of the agency. And, I trust that my Senate colleagues will put politics aside during the confirmation process for the good of the agency and its dedicated employees.”
