Rep. Gregory W. Meeks Statement on President Biden’s 2024 Fiscal Year Budget Plan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Gregory W. Meeks (NY-05) issued the following statement on President Joe Biden’s 2024 fiscal year budget proposal:

“President Biden released a budget plan today that invests in the American people by building an economy from the middle out and bottom up. The President is working to lower costs for families, strengthen Medicare, and protect social security.

“The President’s budget will cut the deficit by nearly $3 trillion over the next 10 years. Meanwhile, the congressional GOP are using the looming debt ceiling as a political tool to cut Medicare, Social Security, and other crucial supports. President Biden and Democrats are prioritizing solutions to the problems everyday Americans are facing by investing in affordable housing, providing accessible childcare, making sure corporations are paying their fair share, and so much more.  

“I am committed to working with President Biden and my congressional colleagues to enact these budget priorities that continue to move the nation forward.”
