Queens Resident Joins Rep. Gregory W. Meeks for Trump’s First Joint Address to Congress
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Gregory W. Meeks (NY-05) will be joined by federal contractor Adam Whiteman, as his guest to Donald Trump’s first address to a Joint Session of Congress.
Adam Whiteman is part of the growing list of federal contractors who are being impacted by Trump’s unlawful actions towards federal agencies. Whiteman serves as the Vice President of Kew Gardens Civic Association and is a U.S. Department of Treasury contractor. As a municipal and infrastructure project finance advisor, Whiteman has spent a decade working on projects in Ukraine and India.
“While our work is currently on pause per President Trump’s executive order on foreign assistance, I hope that we will be able to resume this important work that provides benefits both to the US and our overseas partners,” Whiteman said.
After taking office on January 20, Donald Trump immediately handed the keys of our federal government over to Elon Musk. Now, Trump is coming to address a Joint Session of Congress so he can demand that the Republican Majority push through his extreme budget proposal to cut Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and critical programs American families depend on.
“President Trump has unlawfully destroyed a key arm of U.S. national security and denigrated our most dedicated public servants,” said Congressman Meeks. “People like Whiteman exemplify the critical work our civil servants are doing to promote American Democratic values around the world. While Trump and Republicans stand on the side of Elon Musk, I and my fellow Democrats are defending people like Adam Whiteman, a resident from Kew Gardens in Queens, who represent the very best of our nation.”
Without public servants, we lose the technical expertise and institutional knowledge needed to effectively advance American interests.
