Congressman Meeks Defends the CFPB at Rally in D.C. 

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) was created in response to the 2008 financial crisis. Before its inception, there was no financial regulator solely dedicated to protecting everyday Americans. The Trump administration has effectively shuttered all activity at the CFPB as it moves towards dismantling the agency completely. On Monday, I joined my colleagues, CFPB employees, and consumer advocates to highlight the agency’s work to return over $21 billion to families and consumers who had suffered from illegal junk fees, scams, fraud and other forms of abuse. Constitution at Stake Under a Trump Presidency 

I appeared on MSNBC Reports to discuss the unlawful attacks that have defined the beginning of the second Trump administration. The Constitution is under attack, and we must all fight back against the blatant disregard of our democracy.
