Congressman Gregory W. Meeks Statement on Extreme House Republicans Seizure of the National Defense Authorization Act

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Gregory W. Meeks (NY-05) issued the following statement on radical House Republicans hijacking the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to include cruel measures that inflict harm on servicemembers. 

“Today, House Republicans proved that they care more about advancing their right-wing legislative priorities than supporting the American military’s servicemembers and protecting our national security.

“I voted against this radical measure because Republicans chose to pursue an agenda that attacks our servicemember’s reproductive freedom, unfairly targets efforts to improve the representation of minority and LGBTQ+ servicemembers, and needlessly bans educational resources that should be available to military families. Democrats will always put people over politics to protect our national security and preserve the dignity of our servicemembers.”
