PHOTO RELEASE: Meeks, Suozzi Join Community Leaders to Distribute Food to Queens Families in Advance of Rosh Hashanah
Food was distributed to Queens families living with hardships; Representatives were joined by Acting Consul General of Israel New York
Kew Gardens, New York – In the spirit of Rosh Hashanah and the renewed call to give back to the community in advance of the Jewish New Year, Congressman Gregory W. Meeks (D-Long Island, Queens) and Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-Long Island, Queens) joined Jewish community leaders to distribute food to Queens families living with hardships. In total, the representatives helped distribute hundreds of cases of food to hundreds of families in need.
Joining the representatives at the food distribution drive was Israel Nitzan, the acting Consul General of Israel New York. Photos from the event are found here.
“Thankful to have joined my colleague, Congressman Suozzi, and Israel Nitzan to make sure Queens residents have access to food at such a critical time. Wishing the Jewish Community a healthy and prosperous start to the New Year,” said Rep. Meeks.
“With the Jewish New Year approaching, now is the time to renew our efforts to help those most in need,” said Rep. Suozzi. “I’m proud to partner with Congressman Meeks and our community leaders in Queens to make sure that those who are hungry have access to a meal.”
